The Kehoe's heirs sold the house in 1930 and ownership changed several times to use, as are the Goette Funeral Home for 65Years. It is now a beautiful bed and breakfast, where many of the visitors report supernatural events to scream like a woman, a nurse shushing visitors, the lady in white, making appearances and multiple instances with the spirits of children.

The list goes on and on!

So, what is it Savannah, that it so attractive to ghosts and ghost stories make? Many people start with the fact that Savannah is literally built on its dead. Savannah was founded the first city in Georgiain 1733. It was in the same place as the Creek and Choctaw established retained their graves.

As the colony began to grow and prosper, it needs more space. Buildings were erected on the grave sites of the original colonists. Headstones in cemeteries were moved to make way for sidewalks and streets. Places of worship were erected on the graves of slaves.

Secondly, Savannah has a very violent history. Many bloody battles and skirmishes were fought in Savannah. One of thebloodiest battles of the American Revolution, the siege of Savannah, where about 1,200 people lost their lives in one hour was fought in Savannah.

Also, the city became the victim of many city-wide fires, at least two yellow fever epidemics and several hurricanes.

Third, Savannah has been an important port city since the days of King Cotton, as many a sailor has been spinning through the Savannah ventured a romantic story or two.

Fourth Savannahians (proud to be an eccentric bunch), as well astheir ancestors, history and the volume added to the ghost stories.

Finally, I believe that the large quantities of Spanish moss hanging from the majestic oak trees. The blankets of moss look like ghostly shrouds the entire region and give an eerie look.

Whatever the reason, the ghost stories are endless, making the savanna the right to the title of America's Most Haunted City.
